Cloud migrationLead the effort in migrating our resources from an old vSphere-based virtualization platform to the cloud. Started utilizing infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform) manage our AWS resources using industry standard workflows such as pull-requests and pull-request verification.Introduced Kubernetes (using kOps) as the platform to provide hosting for our inhouse tooling and utilities.Migrated and containerized most of the workloads running in the old environment, deprecating and retiring as needed.Introduced Packer and Ansible to provide configuration-as-code for workloads that were not suitable for containerization, opting to instead run those as plain EC2 VMs.Continuous IntegrationIntroduced configuration-as-code for CI pipeline configurations and standardized on Docker as the tool to manage build environments in an effort to improve the transparency of, and trust in, the CI system.Started utilizing the cloud platform in our CI system to provide dynamic scaling based on demand to effectively eliminate verification queues for pull-requests.

2015 - 2018, DevOps / Continuous IntegrationTook more of a lead role in introducing and ramping up automated testing and verification efforts in the project.We introduced a Jenkins-based (migrated to TeamCity some years later) CI system with HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) end-to-end verification of the trunk/master branches. In order to achieve this a custom test rack with some hundreds of relays was designed. To accompany this we designed and implemented a Java-based testing framework intended for the developers to implement automatic test cases to verify their changes. The framework provides the ability to verify the test cases on "virtualized" resources in addition to the HIL test rigs. It also provides advanced logging and diagnostics that are gathered in the CI system to facilitate troubleshooting.In the end this system resulted in the near-total automation of testing required for a release (from ~250h to less than 30h).2013 - 2015, Real-time Linux / C developmentParticipated in the development of upgrading an existing control system to a new hardware platform. The old platform was a uCOS-based system which was ported/migrated over to Xenomai and Linux.Main focus areas were 2nd stage bootloader and fieldbus communication with tasks such as:- Firmware upload from the existing maintenance tool- Redesign and testing of a CAN protocol stack- Integration of the CAN protocol stacks with the kernel CAN drivers2011 - 2013, Embedded C development (trainee)Designed and implemented the integration of a Simulink-based CANOpen stack into an existing embedded control system
