About Sami Paju
I believe that people want to do good work. They want to have a sense of accomplishment, of using their skills and talents towards something bigger. And they want to improve. Both themselves and the work they do. And to do this in a sustainable manner, so that reaching one stretch goal doesn’t mean sacrificing whatever comes after.The great tragedy of modern work life, at least the way I have witnessed it mostly in knowledge work, is that of distraction, ad hoc demands, inability to focus, and the important getting drowned by minutiae. It seems even unclear what work should look like when things flow, people support each other, and there is a sense of control and mastery both in content and process.My previous book (Järki töihin!) about continuous improvement in knowledge work aims to solve these problems on an individual level. Meaning that even if the system around you is broken, there are still things you can do to improve the situation. And perhaps by personal reflection, experimentation, and witnessing tangible benefits, you will take the same mindset to improving work on a team or organisational level.In my part I aim to continue to help people make their work better, focusing more on teams and organisations. Not just how we can work better as individuals, but how we can work better together.
