About Samir Das
I am currently a Research Scientist at Clark University, where I lead the development of macrocyclic peptides and peptidomimetics for sensing and diagnostics applications. I design and conduct complex experiments on the synthesis and optimization of biomolecules. I develop and maintain laboratory protocols and maintain equipment. I have trained 38 undergraduate and 12 graduate students, as well as one postdoctoral fellow, in research and data analysis. I troubleshoot technical challenges and refine methodologies. I handle multiple concurrent projects funded by NIH and NSF.In my previous role, I worked on assay development and execution for 11 years. I am an expert in peptide synthesis, HPLC, high-throughput screening, and ligand binding assays such as ELISA and HTRF. I worked on the development of smart insulin at Protomer Technology. I trained three junior scientists in high-throughput peptide screening in this role. At the California Institute of Technology, I developed and optimized experimental protocols for technology development. Notably, I developed the Chemical Epitope Technology (CET) and led a team that identified artificial sensors for malaria biomarker proteins. I also co-led a team that used the same technology to develop an inhibitor of the PKB kinase. I worked closely with the institute’s Flow Cytometry and Molecular Imaging facilities. I worked with patent attorneys to draft and secure 5 US patents for the technology development. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at samdas@clarku.edu. Skills: Team Leadership, Advanced Chemistry Development, Solid Phase synthesis, LC-MS, HPLC, ELISA, FP, Maldi-TOF, SPR, ITC, Pull-down assays, Western Blot, Fluorescence Imaging, Mammalian Cell Culture, Enzyme activity assays, Electrochemistry, API Manufacturing.
