Born in 1939 in Beirut, Samir Rayess resides in Beirut Central District. He entered the ready-to-wear business in the early 60s with limited opportunities but soon he gained knowledge and experience to develop the business successfully throughout Lebanon and the Arab Countries. He is best known as the founder and chairman of the GS Group, which is one of the leading retail operators in Lebanon in the field of ready-to-wear. Samir Rayess is also the chairman and a senior partner in Les Dunes project, located in Verdun area, one of the largest real estate development in Lebanon which includes an international branded hotel in addition to a Shopping Mall known as Dunes Center which comprises restaurants, retail and entertainment outlets, implemented in Beirut in the late 1990s. He is still considered a leading businessman and is currently assisted by his son Jamil. Samir Rayess has also founded several commercial and real estate companies and to list a few: Global Finance & Trading Co. sal, Societe 570 Kaslik sal and Gulf Construction Co. sal.
