Large and complex projects fail sometimes, usually not because of the technology, but because of the human factor.I'm deeply invested on social innovation, bringing a new kind of organizational management to working environments.I'm working mainly for several small non-profit organizations and for SMACL Assurances, a big insurance company focused on insuring cities.I'm also coaching my own company, a cooperative for trainers and digital sector freelancers, learning a lot in the process of experiencing a whole new kind of organization, both agile and democratic.

I've built a self-organized organization, to learn and to show how to self-organize an organization.This is the hardest challenge I've ever met on my life.What I've learned in a nutshell is that there is four main dimensions to take into account: operational space: everybody must know what to do and when to do it. functional space: every function must be explicit and constantly updated. relational space: as a human being, we need to be heard and understood in our feelings. energy flow: an organization is fueled by human energy and money.I've designed the Democratic Common concept, based on the best self-governance methodologies available in the world.So far, so good...Last but not least, I've discovered that it's impossible to self-organize an organization. You can only foster self-organization...

As a smalltalk expert, I helped the SMACL insurance company to modernize an aging smalltalk developer platform. I migrate the old one, V3, to the new one, V8: a jump of almost 20 years, an eternity in IT ! It was challenging, and I like complex challenges, so it was delightful to manage the jump.

Parents entrusted me that which is the most precious to them: their kids. It gave me a strong sense of responsibility at an early age.I deeply enjoyed showing them how to build their own robots, micro-rockets or video games. Sharing with kids and teenagers is a really joyful experience: you learn from them as well as you teach to them.My fondest memory was directing the European summer camp organized by "Planète Science" (my main employer) for the Community of Ariane Cities: teenagers from Spain, Italia, Belgium, France barely speaking English and building together robots and rockets was a moving moment.I was also involved for a few years in the team organizing the European Scratch Conference: a nice visual language designed by the MIT to teach kids and teenagers how to program.

I started a new journey, this time on my own. I discovered that Smalltalk, my favorite language used during my research for modeling self-reconfigurable robots, was also used in the insurance industry. I trained a lot of people in this industry during these years, and became at some point a Smalltalk expert. Amazing life.

I worked as a rescuer (volunteer and first responder) with a specialized training to operate as a team ("First Responder as a Team", level 2 in France). I've been trained in casualty carry, cardiac massage, compression bandage and so on.I've practiced for several years in a wide range of configurations: student parties, Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix... and learned to stay calm during stressful situations.

Tournesol Association was the first company I've built, in High-Alps: social recycling of used computers for poor people. This experience has taught me a lot: managing a team, defining strategies and priorities, administrative and logistic management, connecting with right people, resisting to cold winter, waiting for the right moment, climbing high mountains, writing reports, writing reports (yes again)...But the most important was to learn when to give up, and how to fail gracefully.

As a young researcher, I've published and I presented my research both in French and English language, in national and international conferences, strengthening my skills in public talks and English fluency.The more vibrant memory was my oral presentation on one of the greatest robotic conference (ICRA) in front of the best robotics researchers in the world, at New Orleans, USA.This period was pretty hard on me, because I was living a deep conflict of values with the research and teaching system, with its sometimes non-ethical military-based research and harsh teaching methods I was not aligned with. I've made the best and hardest choice of my life: drop my PhD, to keep my integrity.

I've learned the BASIC programming language and the Assembly Language as a kid.Almost two decades later, I was teaching to hundred of students how to program with Smalltalk, C, Java and Scheme.More importantly, I taught them the computational thinking.My proudest achievement was setting up a classroom where the more skilled student were teaching to the others, listening them quietly in the background.During my studies, I've learnt everything I can around self-organized system, complex system, and self-reconfigurable robotics. My PhD thesis was focused on distributed artificial intelligence: I've designed a theory and software to self-reconfigure a swarm of robots without a single point of failure.

I discovered that the military mindset was not what I naively believed: my perception is more nuanced now. I became skilled in linux, and I'm now "bilingual" in Windows and Linux, using both at the same time.
