In 2024, I took on the larger role of leading all of the Finland-based product development units. We build F-Secure award-winning products bringing sense of safety for consumers and protecting digital moments online.

I had the honour of joining F-Secure Board of Directors for a 1-year term, as Fellow (employee) board member. This is rather rare system - all Fellows can nominate themselves and the top most voted (by Fellows) candidates are interviewed by the Board of Directors and one is selected as final proposal for the Annual General Meeting. In 2023, I had very engaging time in the board, as the company was having its first full calendar year as independent company after WithSecure/F-Secure demerger. In 2023 May/June, the company also acquired consumer business of Lookout, enabling access to Tier 1 customers. In many ways, the company was setting its strategy on product, technology and business front. The acquistion paved the way for new opportunities that also play a role in the updated strategy.

As Chief Digital Product Owner of Data Bridge Tribe, I'm leading one of four tribes that develop digital products and tools for Wärtsilä's service agreement business. My team is focusing on data acquisition, managing IoT devices in the field and cloud infrastructure to preprocess, store and manage operational data, at company scale. The team has grown from ~20 person team of developers and product owners to team of ~40 persons, including both software development and operative teams, covering also lifecycle aspects related to our data infrastructure and digital products. Team is distributed in nature, located mainly in Vaasa, Helsinki in Finland and Drunen in Netherlands.My main responsibilities include planning and maintaining a high level product roadmap for our tribe, and ensuring that the team is delivering value to the business. Big part of the job is seeking input from business stakeholders and ensuring that the team is doing the right job at the right time. Since operative aspects were incorporated to my tribe, I have also paid special attention on operational excellence, e.g. improving incident management practices, internal communications and cross-collaboration of teams.Main accomplishments and highlights in this position:- established highly functioning and well-motivated team. Even with some organizational changes and challenges along the way, I have been able to lift up the team spirit and even increase the team cohesion- on-time delivery of several projects and successfully managing stakeholder expectations- growing the tribe with two operative teams, and bonding the operative aspects with development teamsDuring Aug 2021 and Jan 2022 I have been paternity leave, taking care of our 6-month first born.

I'm in charge of overall software and data architecture in Wärtsilä Data Bridge. Data Bridge is an initiative in Wärtsilä to provide 1) general purpose data collection unit 2) unified interface to different data sources, fuelling data driven products and services.

Technologies included Python & Java.

- I was a member of 3-person research team- conducted data analysis and validation, statistical data based modeling, and mathematical optimization for our onboard solutions- programming in Python and the related scientific computing libraries- finished my master thesis during 2011-2012 in the company- main author of two conference articles published in Computer and IT Applications in the Maritime Industries (COMPIT): Estimating Vessel Emissions and Efficiency - A Data Driven Approach (2012) and Robust Characterization of Ship Power Plant Fuel Efficiency (2013)

I got the chance to work closely with the customer (smallish car dealer) to develop and design the tools to help them with common tasks encountered in daily operations.
