Responsible for the day to day operation and promotion of the Engineering Services Department. This includes the management of all engineering resources within RIMS Engineering to ensure the successful completion of projects and jobs. The position is responsible for managing jobs and projects within RIMS Engineering; ensuring time frames, budgets, customer service standards and project requirements are met. Coordinate and direct large projects, manage project plans, budgets, materials and human resources to achieve project goals and outcomes. Manage and assist Sales & Project Engineers. Statewide Technical/Sales Position. I deal in all forms of engineering from design to supply servicing and all forms of maintenance to all industries across the State. I have increased on my knowledge dramatically, offering services to the marine and fishing industries as well as a more in detail work with mining and construction businesses as well as the main manufacturing plants across the State. My main levels of focus are around Hydraulics and Pneumatics and Compressors, Filtration and Gas Generation, I assist in providing complete Hydraulic,Pneumatic and Filtration solutions also including compressors and compressed air systems and pumping systems. Being the primary commercial interface with Rims Engineering’s Clients and customers my daily responsibilities include increasing market share with existing customers by account managing an existing customer base within the mining and engineering markets, Identifying and developing new business opportunities with new customers, preparing quotes, proposals and tenders, providing technical and expert advice and assistance with system design, Meeting company reporting and financial objectives, Providing expert reliable accurate information and guidance/supervision to other tradesman both employed by Rims and our wide customer base.

I was re-employed by HMB Engineering to be their sole representative in the south of the State. I am responsible for all customers/enquiries throughout the entire south of the state and up the east and west coast to level with Launceston. I also handle all service enquiries as well as carry out the service work where required. I work on and supply technical support advice and spare parts and complete assemblies of all kinds of pumps from mining submersibles to centrifugal pumps and irrigation pumps. I also do quite a large amount of work on domestic household water pumps as well as larger pumps for the farming and agricultural industry. I am also required to work on hydraulic and pneumatics equipment as well as pipework and all other types of rotating machinery. I am also actively required to use my welding skills. I also organize all of the day to day running of the company for the south of the state, from banking to invoicing clients and paying our accounts. I have gained extensive experience with MYOB and SAP as well as expanding on my knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs. I have also been lucky to have led several major projects at several different sites within the state, looking after both the project or installation as well as all of the associated customers, suppliers and tradespeople. I get great satisfaction from leading projects and being responsible for the overseeing of the entire job. Whilst working at Bamfords I have started my Diploma in Project Management which has enabled me to further develop my leadership skills and my knowledge of people and project management.Quite a large amount of work with Caterpillar Tasmania, supporting their engineering design team in Burnie and also supplying Hydraulic support and back up. I was responsible for the setting and badging of all pressure relief valves which were required for the mobile equipment built in Tasmania

Since returning to Hobart I have been undertaking work with United Engineering. During this time I have been completing mechanically based work including fitting and welding out of their workshop in Moonah as well as several on site projects. More recently I have been based at Cadbury’s completing a series of projects and installations of new equipment, as well as rebuilds of existing plant and machinery. Within this position I have worked almost entirely with little or no supervision to complete all tasks required of me. This position was excellent because I was able to slot straight in upon my return to Hobart and I got some invaluable site experience under a wide range of projects.This position was only casual

In May 2008 I moved from the customer service/consulting role to a more hands on service role. Within this role I operated as a mechanical tradesperson both in the purpose built workshop and in the field on-site wherever the work needed to be completed. I had my own vehicle which was stocked with all the necessary tools and equipment for me to complete any job no matter how big or small. I worked on and repaired everything from cylinders to earth moving equipment. I was still utilized in the system design and supply work but also took the next step and did all of the manufacturing work as well as on site installations. I was also required to travel statewide as well as several places around Australia for jobs and projects as well as meetings and training. I was regretful to leave such a good company but I relocated back to Hobart to be closer to friends and family. I gained some invaluable experience whilst at Bamfords in sales, maintenance and customer service, dealing with people from the everyday customer to consultants, engineers and managers of all levels.

In this position I designed, purchased, supplied and built all kinds of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. I also provided customer service and advice to all other types of mechanically based companies in the North, East and West Coasts of Tasmania including logging companies, manufacturing companies, the construction industry and the everyday customer. As well as design and supply of equipment I also carried out repairs, rebuilds of hydraulic pumps and motors, powerpacks, jacks, valves, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and basically any kind of machinery brought into us. Another part of the job was to assist with the Enzed side of the business. Within this I was required to repair and manufacture all types of hydraulic hoses and piping as well as pneumatic piping. By completing these tasks and working within Enzed I have become very proficient and have gained a great understanding and amount of knowledge on hose manufacture and all the fittings and adaptors used in the hydraulic industry. This position allowed me to further expand upon my mechanical knowledge and aptitude allowing me to become an even better tradesperson and a more valuable asset to the company. I was offered an advancement within the company to the position of Service Tradesperson/Sales Support.

Due to my extensive knowledge of the operations and maintenance of the Warehouse and Coreplant, I was offered the position of Warehouse Logistics Coordinator. In this role I was responsible for all operations aspects including staff. I was also responsible for the Maintenance Routines for the plant. I was directly responsible for six shift crews of five operators per crew and six permanent day operators and the temporary labor pool for the area. My role as a Tradesman after completing my apprenticeships gave me the opportunity to contribute to the team’s goals by willingly performing both major and minor tasks.
