Worked on Rosenberg 7 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) which is a medical surgical/telemetry unit which was transitioned to a covid isolated unit during my contract. As a medical floor this unit specializes in pancreatic, bariatric, and vascular surgeries. This job requires a vast understanding of the complexities of surgical oncology, vascular and general surgery patients. Patient to nurse ratio typically ranges from 4:1 to 6:1. For each patient I am required to document through a series of eFlowsheets including vital signs, intake and output, access, skin/wounds, pulse and neuro checks as well as complete a daily note including interventions in care. If a patient is on cardiac monitoring and/or continuous 02 monitoring, I am required to analyze telemetry strips and place notable telemetry events in the patient’s physical chart.

Worked as a dedicated registered nurse on 4800, a 40 bed acute medicine unit. This unit specialized in the care of medical patients with a wide range of complex medical needs. This job required critical thinking and clinical judgment in a fast paced environment. Through this work experience I became proficient in EPIC documentation, medication administration, telemetry interpretation, dressing changes and IV placement/blood draws. Through my strong work ethic I was frequently given charge nurse responsibility and consistently placed as a preceptor for new RN/LPN's while maintaining a patient to nurse ratio of 7:1 to 9:1. In March of 2020 this unit was one of the first COVID isolated units in RGH.
