I founded Australia’s first direct-to-consumer pet food company, securing supplier agreements that ensured a product profit margin of over 50% for the company. Our initial offerings included kangaroo kibble, raw dog food, toys, treats, and pharmaceuticals. I developed two patents and unique processes for an ‘Add to Box’ feature, as well as efficient customisation tool for pet food plans. I led the development of the company’s e-commerce sales channel supported by IT service providers, a designer & illustrator, third-party order management providers, and a suite of e-commerce marketing and performance tools and integrations. With the help of a key designer, we developed the website branding, packaging design, and marketing collateral. We received funding from angel investors and grew the business from a concept to $300,000 in annual sales within 2.5 years, with a significant increase from $0 at launch to $300,000 just 8 months later. Throughout my tenure, we experienced an average month-over-month growth rate of 20%. I engaged creatives and videographers to create highly effective marketing content that increased brand recognition and performance. I orchestrated an investment from a leading Australian pet food manufacturer, which would have considerably further improved profit margins and expanded our product range to include cooked pet food, positioning us as the first entrant in each of the three main product categories (dry, cooked, raw). Eventually, I sold my shares and invested the proceeds in my next startup.

A member of the City Research team and the newly formed Smart City Office. Worked on developing and implementing the City of Melbourne’s community engagement plan and event framework, feeding into the council’s 10-year strategic plan. Led a stakeholder events and engagement framework of over 40 events with a variety of stakeholders. Led the council’s research into the startup ecosystem in Melbourne to produce an analysis of the city’s investment trends and economic areas of strength and knowledge.

My role in this position was to help the Chamber increase its revenue as well as its relevancy as a dynamic business conduit in Melbourne. Supported an increase in membership revenue of 80% over 2 years through membership acquisition and renewals. A focus on stakeholder relations with senior management and C-level executives; facilitating introductions and arranging sponsorship deals. Managed large scale corporate events such as the Europcar Tour de France Lunch (600 attendees), the Corporate Golf Day at Kingston Heath (150 attendees).
