I am a PhD student at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, the Centre for Palaeogenetics, and Stockholm University. I work on bioinformatic approaches to leverage metagenomic data of eukaryotes from environmental and bulk DNA.For my MSc degree project at Uppsala University, I developed an in situ genotyping tool to individually identify saddleback and emperor tamarins using the MinION portable sequencer. We hope to publish our findings soon!In 2018, I spent 5 months in the rainforest as senior manager for the first genetics laboratory in the Amazon, where I performed DNA extraction, quantification, PCRs, electrophoresis gels, and ultimately, sequencing with the MinION (ONT). I've been working for Field Projects International since 2015, carrying out anything from online data management, English-Spanish translations, fieldwork, laboratory work and data analysis. I'm now an associate research scientist with FPI, and am involved in several projects including genetic and behavioural assessment of colour vision in free-ranging tamarins, disease screening and DNA barcoding.I have managed teams of research assistants during field seasons and have received laboratory training at the Primate Molecular Ecology Laboratory in the Washington University in St. Louis.
