I lead the software development and automation for IBRs interconnection studies. I also lead the technical discussion among utility, OEMs, vendors, and consultants. I worked on a variety of large-scale projects in several countries, for which I have developed network models using the most advanced simulation software including PSS/E, DIgSILENT, PSCAD, TSAT, ETAP, CYME, RTDS/RSCAD, and have conducted complex analyses for both HVAC and HVDC systems which involved transient and dynamic stability, small signal stability analysis, and the application of FACTS devices (STATCOM) for stability improvement. In this latter field, Mr. Maleki holds a Ph.D. degree. Some of Mr. Maleki's notable work has been the tuning and upgrade of controllers for large-scale power plants including a 1200 MW hydropower plant using a Power System Stabilizer (PSS); the analysis of a 200 MW wind farm Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) capability; and also the determination of power ramp in an HVDC system. He has also performed various Electro-Magnetic Transient (EMT) studies for breaker switching Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV), analysis of transformer energization inrush current, as well as lightning studies for transmission and traction systems. ➢ Over 9 years of hands-on experience in the design and validation of FACTS and HVDC power systems➢ Proven track record in engineering consulting for over 10 GW of renewable energy interconnection ➢ Comprehensive knowledge of power system studies for wind and solar energy applications ➢ Solid work, education, and research background in voltage, transient, and frequency stability.➢ Proven track record of designing FACTS controllers for various applications. ➢ Deep understanding of the energy market,➢ Vast knowledge of utility interconnection requirements including ERCOT, PJM, AEMO, etc.➢ Exceptional hands-on experience in developing and simulating control strategies for wind, solar, and BESS applications in PSCAD, PSSE, RSCAD, and Matlab Simulink.➢ Proficient in power system design and analysis, including power system modeling and hardware in loop applications.➢ Proven track record of writing and securing grants and technical reports with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.➢ Exceptional management and leadership skills and ability to work well within cross-functional research groups.➢ Proficiency in: •PSCAD •ETAP •PSS®E •RTDS •DigSILENT •Python •Matlab •CYME •Simulink

Electrical Design SpecialistPower Quality Research Group May 2011 - Apr 2013Before any integration of distributed energy sources, the static and dynamic study of the power system before and after integration has to be done. In this position, I did all the necessary studies for integration of renewable energy sources to the Malaysia power grid. The study covered;site view, load flow study, dynamic study, short circuit study, and equipment sizing.Conduct research on feasibility, design, operation and performance of electrical generation and distribution networks. This study requires the detailed simulation of the existing distribution systems with the interconnection of the new renewable plant in DigSilent and PSCAD software.Prepare material cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for electrical and electronic systems and equipment, including:Preparation of cost reports on the installation of new transformers and cables for new renewable plant installations to the distribution system. Investigate electrical and electronic failures:As part of his duty, Mr. Maleki was responsible for investigating the failure of high voltage equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and cables. The required investigations include, but are not limited to, data collection from Phasor Measurement Units (PMU).
