Sam Maynard is Executive Vice President at Raw. Maynard is best known for developing, show-running and executive producing Discovery Channel's number 1 hit series ‘Gold Rush’ now in its 15th season. He has overseen many Gold Rush spin-off series such as 'Parker's Trail' and 'Lost Mines'. He also developed and executive produced Discovery Channel's long run series Homestead Rescue.Recently Sam was lead exec on 'MH370 The Plane that Disappeared' which was the second highest rating documentary factual series on Netflix in 2023. Sam was also the exec of 'Lost Cities Revealed With Albert Lin' a six part Specialist Factual Series for National Geographic Channel and Disney+. The series has been nominated for Critics Choice and Banff's Rockie Awards. Another documentary series of note Maynard ran was 'Presidents at War' for History Channel which followed the story of the 8 American Presidents that fought in the second world war. Previously Maynard was Head of US Factual Programming at Raw where he developed and produced multiple series. During this time he took Raw's cult series 'Locked Up Abroad' from its original short run to a returnable fifteen seasons success story for National Geographic Channel. Sam is well known in the exploration community and television industry for running shows in high risk and remote environments such as ‘Shackleton Death or Glory’ in the Antarctic for Discovery, ‘Living with the Mek’ for Travel Channel in West Papua, ‘Siberian Cut’ in Russia for Discovery, 'Jungle Gold' in Ghana for Discovery ‘Bangla Bangers’ in Bangladesh for Discovery or ‘Mission Africa’ in Kenya for BBC1. Prior to joining Raw, Sam was founder and CEO of his Bafta award-winning TV and digital company Eolas Media. He has executive produced, show-run or directed for many US, UK and international broadcasters and independent producers on popular titles such as Wife Swap US, Australia and UK. Maynard is a graduate in Film and Photography from Napier University, is an award-winning photographer and director, founder of the highly successful An Lanntair Arts Centre and a Fellow of The British American Project.
