I am a mathematically driven molecular biologist with my primary depth in molecular biology, plant physiology, and bioinformatics and breadth in engineering and computer science. The base of my molecular experiences are in traditional DNA/vector building methods, heterologous systems for protein expression or characterization, and quantification of low abundance compounds; most recently I have worked with CRISPR based systems for gene editing in complex genomes. My mathematical persuasion initially brought me into the world of microarray analysis which quickly escalated to NGS technologies, sequencing D/RNA and utilizing a variety of statistical techniques to address interesting questions. At some point I found that the problems I desired to solve were not addressable with available equipment so I learned to construct a variety of imaging systems, case-specific hardware, and interactive software for analysis of sequencing data.I am currently working with CTC Genomics to develop a sustained sugarcane production system, using data driven models to adjust growth conditions to increase material quality.
