Microbiology Research for my undergraduate thesis; experimenting with various osmotic stressors in Caulobactor crescentus, a small freshwater bacterium. Specifically comparing viability between strains with differing levels of a general stress response noncoding RNA.

Assisted two marine biologists in collecting data for ongoing projects including kelp forests coverage, shark population estimates, and fish and macroinvertebrate surveys.Practiced and employed a variety of sampling techniques.Led groups for community/ citizen science projects collecting data for population estimates of endemic benthic sharks.Learned about the machine learning and AI components involved in these projects.Discussed and problem-solved the collection and sampling methods for new projects.Studied the unique marine ecosystem of False Bay.Refined my diving skill by logging more than 15 SCUBA research dives and additional freedives.

Underwent training for rescues, basic life support, and first aid.Guarded at both indoor and outdoor pools maintaining a safe environment.Administered swim tests.

School trip included volunteering at middle school (Birdland) and high school (Munali) in Zambia. Prepared material and taught classes on a variety of subjects.
