Currently I am a licensed Title 1 high school science educator in project-based learning school with 6 years of experience. My skills in democratic classroom leadership and adaptive curriculum design paired with outdoor education leads my educational philosophy, and forms the place-based curriculum I write. I started two Dungeons & Dragons clubs, teaching children how to write stories and interact through role playing and problem solving .I also lead campaigns that I wrote specifically for middle school audiences. I graduated from Western State Colorado University Master in Environmental Management (MEM) with a concentration in Integrated Land Management (IRM). I worked as a Riparian Ecology researcher with the Bureau of Land Management, the Gunnison Restoration-Resilience Project, and The Great Basin Institute. I am a Margie and John Haley Environmental Project Fund Recipient (2015).The job that really launched my love of science and education was working as an environmental educator with Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory for several summers. However, before this I dabbled in several skilled careers. I worked as a range technician with the United States Forest Service for two seasons. I was the supervisor at Crested Butte Ski & Ride School for several years, and a ski coach for far more. I was a preschool teacher, a server, a bartender, a barista, and a volunteer radio DJ. I even did a season of firefighting and trail work!I earned my bachelors from UMaine Farmington in Environmental Science, which basically meant I took every field biology and geology course I could. I am so grateful to have gone to a college with science courses outside.
