Lead microfluidics engineer responsible for R&D, design, systems integration and project management of a novel microfabricated High Performance Liquid Chromatography (cHiPLC) based system.- Invented, designed and validated all components of the next generation HPLC system which includes on-chip valving, injection, sample preparation, columns (for separation), electrokinetic flow control, fluid delivery, filtration and detection (UV based).- Supervised and directed the R&D activities of 5 scientists and engineers.

Key member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to develop and manufacture the LibraryCard from concept to product. Coordinated and led research efforts to develop new microfluidic and microarray devices for high throughput drug screening applications (HTS).- Invented, designed, characterized, and tested novel surface coatings that were utilized in a high throughput microarray-based drug screening application coupled to microfluidic devices to carry out both fluorogenic and kinase (mobility shift) assays for key pharmaceutical customers with 10,000 compounds on an SBS microplate footprint.- Obtained project management experience through defining, assigning and implementing critical studies for the scale up of prototype processes and equipment for a group of 5 engineers and scientists. Wrote documentation (SOPs) for procedures and protocols for complete transfer to manufacturing. - Supported Bioanalyzer (now the Agilent Bioanalyzer) product pipeline with key DOE for microfluidic chip investigation of materials issues (polymers, glass) and determined key surface chemistry solutions.
