About Samo Lasic

Since 2006 I have been working with NMR/MRI method development for microstructure assessment. I've been involved in pioneering new methods including incoherent flow quantification, membrane permeability assessment, isotropic diffusion weighting and the emerging tensor-valued encoding framework for diffusion tensor distribution measurements unconfounded by tissue orientation and heterogeneity. More recently, I have focused on motion-compensated tensor-valued encoding and analysis of time-dependent diffusion effects in tensor-valued encoding.Besides sustained scientific publishing of my academic work, I have been intensely involved in commercial R&D, training and supporting clinical partners and project management. I have been instrumental in intellectual property creation and optimization, and responsible for curation of the company's patent portfolio.I'm excited by outside-the-box thinking and open-ended challenges. Besides the joy of collective successes in my professional life, I value my free-time and my creative side-projects involving audio and visual arts.

I am involved in development of novel advanced diffusion NMR/MRI methods for probing microstructural features of tissues such as cell size, shape, organization, cell-membrane permeability and microcirculation. In this project, I’m focusing on novel acquisitions and data analysis capable of providing clean information about cell membrane permeability without the confounding effects of other structural features like cell size.
  • Danish Research Centre For Magnetic Resonance (Drcmr)
    Senior Researcher
Danish Research Centre For Magnetic Resonance (Drcmr) Nov 2019 - Present
My main research involves advanced diffusion NMR/MRI methods for probing microstructural features of tissues, such as cell size, shape, organization, cell-membrane permeability and microcirculation. I’m particularly interested in non-invasive multidimensional diffusion encoding approaches, which allow teasing apart different tissue features and thus provide highly specific information useful in research and in clinical applications. Within the C-MORPH project at DRCMR, I’m focusing mainly on time-dependent diffusion effects in tensor-valued encoding and exploring possibilities of using these effects to access novel microstructural information.
