Within a year, had initiated the transformation of the national news agency, the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) towards becoming a social tool for 'communication for social change;'​ and revamped the circulation strategies of the two state-owned newspapers (Times of Zambia and Zambia Daily Mail) so that they are able to reach the rural provinces, and increased their print-run from about 7, 000 to 20, 000 copies a day each. Introduced sign-language translation of major news events & bulletins at the State-owned broadcaster, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation's (ZNBC)-TV and the use of local language Voice-pops on the English language TV channel as the first step towards a new language policy for the ZNBC.
