So here goes, a little biography, a touch of the whole David Copperfield kind of crap. I am first and foremost a reader. That’s it really. Oh, there’s a bit more to it: I have a first class degree in English Literature from the University of Cambridge - Oh yeah! Cambridge baby! I have over 10 years experience of teaching English Language and Literature. I have five years experience as a Barrister and, trust me, much of what is presented to courts is closer to fiction than truth! I have written sketches and stories and snatches of dialogue and poems since as long as I can remember. And I have decided to make the move from hobby writer to actually getting published and even making money off the process. So, the point is, I have some experience in wrestling these strange marks on the page which we call words into some form of meaning and effect. But I’m a reader and a lover of language and words above all. I view language, as Stephen King is widely quoted as having said, as a uniquely portable form of magic. You can influence someone’s opinions with language; change their view of the world; create entire new worlds inside their heads; make them laugh and cry, fall in love and break their hearts. Every single time we use language we forge a relationship with the recipient of that language, whether it be the child we hold tight and whisper that the monsters under the bed have gone, the voter we tell to vote one way or the other or the anonymous and faceless reader who picks up a book in a different country and culture a hundred years from now for whom our words are a mirror of himself. If you are interested in reading my book reviews, you need to head over to www.bookloverssanctuary.wordpress.com
