Although the service backend was coded in Java, the streaming components were implemented in Go language for its excellent network and concurrency features. For ensuring scalability and availability, Kubernetes was the choice as the deployment environment. For mobile apps, there was an SDK that was implemented in C++ 14 using Djinni generating wrapper codes for Java/Objective C.---The most difficult architecture I’ve ever designed for is for the project “Happy-pay” which is a third-party payment service. Due to security concerns, many designing constraints had to be met. In addition to technical challenges, the system and team needed to acquire PCI-DSS and ISO-27001 certificates to be able to accept credit card payment online.Components were all packaged as Docker images, no container orchestrators such as Kubernetes was used. Each VM ran the main service and auxiliary containers. Various features of AWS EC2 were leveraged for security, availability, and scalability. In addition to architecture design for the product, I was in charge of development process design and management. For example, I initiated the employment of CI/CD and Scrum for the company, which were realized successfully thanks to great colleagues thereof.Despite my R&D leader role, I’ve managed to implement a Jabber(XMPP) server as the core communication service for the above-mentioned product.
