Sam Taggart earned his Bachelor of Science from Missouri State University where he studied communications through MSU’s College of Arts and Letters, and advertising and promotion through the College of Business. He graduated on the Dean’s List while working, studying and spending semesters away traveling abroad.Sam had a blend of internships during his time at university. Interning at O’Reilly Auto Parts demonstrated what it is like working at a large Fortune 500 company. On the other hand, interning for a local production company, Tasdar Creative, showed what it is like to work in an exciting start-up focused on creativity. Integrated Service Learning Projects through MSU provided an avenue to work with multiple clients during Sam’s time in school. These projects incorporated community service experiences with classroom learning and real-world practice.Sam was fortunate enough to find passion in sport, allowing rugby to take him across the world. In 2014 Sam toured in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia followed by another tour in 2017 to Newport, Wales. These international trips were an eye-opening experience for Sam not only in understanding the differences among cultures, but also in discovering what connects us all.In between tours, Sam worked at the Springfield Brewing Company in Springfield, Mo. He worked every job from kitchen, to bottling, before finally acquiring the position as front-of-house manager. He enjoyed working at local events, fundraisers and community partnerships.In September of 2017, Sam accepted a position with Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association as their Communication and Marketing Coordinator. Tri-State is a power supply cooperative consisting of distribution cooperatives and public power districts in four states, who in total serve more than a million electricity consumers across the West. In May of 2020, Sam was promoted to Marketing Communications and Brand Strategist.In October of 2020, Sam began his role at Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association as the Strategic Communications Director. He currently resides in the Fort Collins, Colo. metro.Sam enjoys work as a freelance writer. When he’s not working he enjoys exploring the great outdoors, planning his next vacation with his wife, and playing rugby.He is continuously seeking opportunities to reach his potential by exploring new methods of communication and continuing his education. Sam believes that as he learns and grows, it not only benefits himself but those around him.
