Hi, there!My name is Samra Akram and I have completed my BS honours and Master's of philosophy (M.Phil.) , majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The field of biological sciences has always remained my main area of interest. I have a solid foundation in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology and Human Genetics. I have completed my M.Phil.'s research from NARC (National Agriculture Research Centre), Islamabad, Pakistan. At NARC, I was connected with National Institute for Genomics and Advanced Biotechnology (NIGAB) for my M.Phil. research work. NIGAB is an exclusive national research institute that is working in all three domains of life i.e. animals, plants, and microbes. My research work was based on the enhancement of the wheat crop via using CRISPR/Cas 9 technology.Currently, I am a part of Quaid-i-Azam University where I got enrolled in Ph.D. Program in Oct. 2021. Here, I am intended to extend my research work in the field of Human Genetics. I am willing to figure out the underlying genetics factors which are responsible for the onset of Intellectual disabilities in Pakistani Population. Not only this, but I have also offered my services at QAU as a visiting faculty in Summer Program. Apart from this, I had voluntarily offered my services for one month to Dr. Naeem’s Lab in Sialkot medical Complex hospital, Pakistan during my bachelor's study. I also earned a one month internship certificate from Dr. Naeem’s Lab. During my stay there, I have worked on blood sampling, urine analysis, blood typing, and several other initial level diagnostic tests.I am now interested in broadening my knowledge and developing a deeper understanding of the genetic factors responsible for the onset of Intellectual disability.
