Profile bio

About Samreen Shaikh

I am a recent PhD graduate from Univeristy of Queensland, now working as a senior research assistant at TRI in pediatric brain cancer laboratory.During my PhD training, I have established bone marrow transplant procedure in the laboratory, starting from acquiring consumables, researching and ordering antibodies, writing risk assessments and SOPs for using gamma cell irradiator, to harvesting bone marrow cells and carrying out tail vein infusion in mice. In addition, I have also worked on industry funded project thus making me understand the sense of urgency and the importance of accurate record keeping. With excellent communication skills required to explain complex information and the ability to work independently to drive the projects in a wise direction whilst also working in a team in a collaborative manner, I am hoping to transition to industry to understand how therapeutic proteins are made and tested to improve quality of life in patients suffering from diseases.
