I'm the Deputy Director for a non-profit organization that uses the arts as a medium to inspire creativity in the lives of students of all ages. We deliver programming to over 20,000 Central Texas youth year round. When youth develop their creativity, compassion, confidence and critical thinking skills, build meaningful connections with peers and positive role models, they become successful adults who contribute to their communities and thrive in their careers and relationships.I oversee people/Human Resources, hiring practices and recruitment, culture, processes, technology, internal communication, social justice and the internal operations of our organization. I work diligently to develop and maintain productive relationships with team members, teaching artists, our Executive Director, our Board of Directors and the community. Leveraging interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving, I have contributed to our organization's evolution towards an anti-oppressive and anti-racist environment. This journey included a three-year tenure on our Social Justice coalition and completing a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from both Cornell University and Beyond Diversity. My commitment extends to nurturing an authentic, liberated work atmosphere that celebrates diversity and promotes human dignity universally.I have worked for numerous non-profits, from preservation and conservation to health and wellness, and fully enjoy being a part of something which makes a difference on a personal, cultural and/or global level. I have also been part of union organization and was part of the Teamsters union for many years. I believe all people have the right to live with respect, a livable wage and basic human rights.My colleagues know me as an innovative, emotionally intelligent, collaborative, progressive and forward thinking creative with an abundance of dedication and energy as well as a wicked sense of humor. I am an exceptionally human-centered, strategic, big picture thinker and am always looking for ways to improve systems and processes (or break them down and build something better). I know how to ask the hard questions and how to answer them.
