A technical role, mainly developing customisations building specific functionality for customers. Within this period, I have created a task diary using jQuery, created an interface between two Web Services (XMLMC and SOAP) and two UTF-8 friendly interfaces for our tool. I also managed the central SVN Server and rewrote the custom interface from a combination of Perl and PHP4 to pure PHP5. On occasion I joined in the application development SCRUM sessions to incorporate certain functionality into the core product along with the team.Supportworks incorporates some development tools the use of which I gave our customers instruction.

A consultancy role primarily involving deployment of software and providing training for those products. This involves products from Hornbill as well as that of OEM partners (FastPass & Bomgar).This role also incorporates the training of new staff members, initially in-house followed by shadowing exercises at customer sites.

An independent consultancy role primarily involving configuration and deployment of software solutions.I used the knowledge and customisation skills (SQL, PHP, JS and HTML) strengthened in my previous position in this customer-facing, technical role.I increased my ability to convey ideas on routine subjects (written and orally) by translating jargon into understandable terms for non-technical users. Within my role, I have advised our customers on the use of the software and was able to suggest alterations/customisations based on working practices observed at other customers within the same market sector.Also, on occasion, I needed to use diplomacy to reset customer expectations.My primary concern is always to establish and develop a positive relationship with customer contacts and aim to exceed their expectations whilst producing cost-effective results.I have shown to understand business requirements and deliver technical solutions to meet the specifications. While specifying and advising on the requirements, I also considered operational feasibility of the proposed solutions. Where necessary, I communicated drawbacks and proposed viable alternatives.My structured approach to problem analysis combined with solid design methodologies allowed me to create solutions for our customers which best suit their individual use.The role, while installing the software, allowed me to perform minor system administration tasks in varied and complex network environments (DMZ, Disaster Recovery and third party tool integration).

A technical role implementing customisations. This built my good understanding of the “Supportworks”-internals. This role required scoping abilities, good communication and documentation skills.The technical requirements are:SQL (for data manipulation and report writing – MySQL, MSSQL & Oracle)PHP (for interface elements, web portal interfaces, reporting)JS (for client GUI operations, web portal interfaces)CSS and HTML (for interface-elements, web portal interfaces, reporting)SVN-tool (internally customised).I proved to be self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of issues and ideas.I worked remotely with customers to define solutions based on business processes and requirements.

Fix and create website backends.

As a developer, I focussed on database programming in VB(Access). From time to time I was also called upon to supplement the existing website with some ad hoc Perl scripts. I was also tasked with a feasibility study of implementing the emerging VB.Net technology. Windows System Administration was also required.
