In my third and final year on the University of Canterbury Commerce Society Committee I was voted into the role of Vice President. This position requires someone with substantial experience and knowledge in the running of a Society. My primary responsibilities were advising and consulting with other Committee members on their particular roles within the Society and providing support to the President of the Society. I worked closely with the President in arranging the finances and sponsorship for the club and at all times ensured the Society was actively pursuing its objectives of enhancing the experience of all university students.

My primary responsibility in this role was to organise and execute social events in line with the objectives of the society. Typically these events were host to up to 1000 university students. I dealt with all aspects of these events from negotiating contracts with artists, booking venues, coordinating equipment and stage setup and pack down, overseeing event staff and security, applying for and obtaining liquor licencing and ticket sales and promotion.I worked closely with the President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Society to ensure that these events were in line with the Societies objectives of enhancing the experience of a students time at university.In my time as Event Manager I developed several skills including attention to detail, time management and leadership which enabled me to be very successful in my role, securing performances from some of New Zealand's leading music artists.
