I have been one of the principal drivers of the growth and success of the FIDO alliance in my role as Google's board representative and the alliance President. After a multi-year complex journey, the alliance has 300+ members, and all major Client OS platforms and browsers have announced support for FIDO. This marks the beginning of the journey to a passwordless era.

I led product management for sign-in into Google accounts including topics like passwords, 2nd factors and account recovery. In this role and in my previous role I also drove progress at Google and industry on strong authentication in the FIDO alliance, resulting first in the launch of Security Keys and later, passkeys.

I led a Product Management for key security products/services for Google Cloud and for the internal Google security infrastructure. Some key projects:• BEYONDCORP ZERO TRUST ACCESS: Conceived, developed and launched a ‘BeyondCorp’ approach to access to internal applications at Google. Internal web applications are published directly on the Internet and access is protected by user identity, session information and device identity and other signals. The BeyondCorp concept is being adopted industry-wide under the name zero-trust. • SECURITY INFRA & CONFIDENTIAL COMPUTING: Supervised Google’s drive into confidential computing and Google’s continual upgrade of TLS deployment and standards, including Google fielding its own Certificate Authority. Wrote Google's publicly published security design overview paper, coordinating input across Google's technical security brainstrust team -- the paper is incrementally updated regularly now to stay current.

We built a remote backup solution for consumers addressing many fundamental issues with cloud backup including speed, trust with data (loss, privacy) etc. User backed up to a local USB disk which could then be moved to any other computer for continued remote backup at a different trusted location. Two man company, intended as a bootstrap venture from ground up, product was at Alpha, decided to stop since it needed more funding and bootstrap was not possible. Various funded variations of the idea have appeared since then.

I came to Juniper through the acquisition of Netscreen. I worked out of US HQ initially, reporting to the CTO, and launched the concept & execution of the Unified Access Control LAN security product line among other things. Later I moved to the Bangalore, India office, still reporting to the CTO at HQ. I was a key link back to senior management during a period of rapid growth and restructuring from a small 100 man team to a mid size 500 man team. I was also an external spokesman for Juniper in the India and EMEA markets.

I came to Netscreen through the acquisition of Neoteris. I ran product management for the SSL VPN (ex-Neoteris) line of products.

I was the founding CEO of Neoteris which was acquired by Netscreen for ~300M in Nov 2003. Netscreen was then acquired by Juniper in April 2004 making the effective deal value ~$500M. I led the 4 man founding team through one year of self funded progress which culminated in multiple competing funding offers in 2001 -- a time when the post-2000 bubble crash was in full force. After bringing in a full-time CEO, I ran the product line as the Vice President of Product Management. Working with a world class team that came together at Neoteris, I saw the product line through 4 full release cycles, three rounds of funding, and two years of rapidly expanding revenues.Neoteris' product line was first industry manifestation of what is now zero trust access. The products continue to be the world market share leader in the area of SSL-VPN (now spun out and part of the zero trust access suite of Ivanti.com). SSL-VPN products provide simple secure web-browser based remote access to corporate networks -- Neoteris is credited with inventing this category of security products.

I was an early employee at Healtheon (today called Emdeon), a company founded in 1996 to bring the efficiencies of Internet connectivity to the various players in the Healthcare space. I ran the initial deployments of the first two products to come out of Healtheon and played a hybrid role spanning customer deployment, account management and product management.

I was an early recruit into Microsoft Research. I worked on using probabilistic modeling techniques in solving issues in next generation computer interfaces.

I was a research programmer working in Artifical Intelligence research. A software package I developed, IDEAL, became the de-facto standard software toolbench in the worldwide Bayesian Network reseach community. From 1990 onwards, II was a full time PhD student working part time at Rockwell.
