Working as a receptionist has given me a huge insight into customer services, what problems are likely to arise within a customer driven environment and has also highly strengthened my computer literacy, relying heavily on a customised Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to process bookings. Working as part of the catering team provided a very varied experience, with many different roles to work in. The majority of shift were as part of the logistics team, as bar staff and doing wine waiting. The varied shifts provided a continual challenge and meant no two shifts were the same. I believe it helped to strengthen my customer relations, and forced me to improve my time management to balance shifts with my university timetable.
