Born into a travelling family, my father served in the merchant navy for 22 years and my mother works in the medical division. My brother and I grew up in a small beach town on the east coast of Australia and I attended boarding school for seven years in a country town further inland. I enlisted into the military as a GAP Year participant and later signed on full time as a Recovery Mechanic, I continued to play sports to a high level and gained invaluable skills and life experiences. Though I did not see myself pursuing a military career indefinitely I did thoroughly enjoy my time spent in Defence. Towards the end of my enlistment I took 24 months unpaid leave and spent my first 12 months travelling and experiencing different cultures, discovering and learning to appreciate the geographic and sociological differences across Europe before settling in London. The remaining of my 12 months leave I spent proving to myself that I was happy and able to commit to a life outside the military and have been exploring ever since. I am excited and keen to continue to travel, as far and as wide as possible, to learn more and to keep challenging myself, I hope I am constantly creating and having a positive impact on the world.
