Thesis on thermoelectric materials via NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Developed novel approach utilizing materials by design - combined experiments and theory to create semi-empirical models for properties that were too computationally expensive for first-principles calculations. Predictions from these models were used to guide experimental materials discovery in various oxide and chalcogenide materials systems, with measurements then fed back to refine model.Resulted in 5 first author publications, 3 conference presentations, and 2 posters.

Mechanical testing of glass: Using diamond indentation with an Instron, I explored the damage mechanics of display glass to develop an understanding of the causes of crack initiation due to glass surface treatments. These results were published as a Corning Inc Internal Report titled "Factors Affecting the Indentation Fracture Threshold of Display Glasses.”

Completed undergraduate thesis work studying reduced niobates for thermoelectric applications. This involved synthesizing and reducing compounds, focusing on the Nb12O29 phase, characterizing them using powder and high temperature X-ray diffraction and thermoelectric transport property measurements. These results were shared at the Undergraduate Research Forum in the form of a poster as well as a thesis submitted to the university archives collection.

I developed and standardized two techniques to characterize and qualify raw materials for use Owens Corning Composites business plants. These were then used, along with another method, to create a database of test results for carbonates with the results being recorded as an Owens Corning Internal Memo Report "Analysis of Limestone and Dolomite Decrepitation by Three Methods." Additionally, I acquired instruments required for the Shelyubskii experiment, performed troubleshooting on various pieces of equipment, and wrote a Standard Operating Procedure, Job Hazard Analysis, and Lock-Tag-Try posting.

To provide guidelines and assistance to undergraduate engineering students looking to improve their resumes for job searching, I compiled and organized a handout for each discipline. This was accomplished by interviewing Alfred University School of Engineering faculty for classes, buzzwords, skills, projects, and laboratory skills to be used.
