My background is a little offbeat. I grew up in a military family, and was afforded the opportunity to travel across parts of Asia, Europe, and the Middle East through my formative years. During my teen years, I discovered a love for both computers, and cooking. The latter evolved into my first career, and I've spent the last 14 years working in or running kitchens.As I entered my 30s, my love of kitchens was tempered by a need for personal growth. My interest was piqued by software development, due to the growing demand, attractive pay-scales, and interesting work. After a few Udemy and Coursera modules, I decided that I wanted to upskill further, and switch industries. From there, I made the decision to attend the software development boot camp Coding Dojo.My experience as a chef has led to a wide set of soft skills, such as operations management, staffing/recruiting, purchasing/receiving, conflict management, and customer service. It's also led to comfort in a fast paced and dynamic work environment. I'm excited to see where these can take me once applied to a new industry.Experienced with: Python, Java, Javascript, CSS and HTML. Flask, Spring, Next.js and MERN frameworks.
