I have internalised many of the lessons I caught at City Collective and hope to be able to adopt them within myself in the coming years. The firm projects' goals were, essentially, to create holistic and wholesome designs. Inclusive of conceptual Masterplanning, and then the blending of Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Architecture; for the end users, for people. Projects include; Social and At-Risk Housing, Multi-Residential, Sports and Recreation, and Parks and Playground projects. This year with City Collective I mainly improved my current skillsets, of documentation and construction knowledge, BIM-related creation and management, and Interior Architecture. Although I wouldn't call myself a BIM Manager or an Interior Architect.I also began to dabble in new territory; the creation of Masterplanning, Client Management, and Landscape Architecture. Utilising Revit, but occasionally with the adobe suite, which I became proficient using.I also worked closely with the Principle Landscape Architect to convert and create a new form of Landscape Documentation within Revit, a disciple usually kept to a DWG format. I was able to allow for 3D visualisation to run in tandem with the documentation process, to let clients see pre-decyphered landscape architectural documentation; viewed with the architecture for holistic presentations.I eventually moved from City Collective due to my placement within the firm. I had become the Graduate of BIM and Landscape Architecture. Show less

Using my experience of Interior Architecture I created parametric families that are typically seen in private residential projects, such as Kitchen joinery, Bathroom, and Ensuite joinery, Integrated Wall Fireplaces, and more. This streamlined the sketch design, concept design phases as well as 3D visualisation; to bring the clients along on the journey of their future home.I worked closely with clients to design and document their dream homes. I also had to have tough conversations to turn their dreams into reality. As designers we know there are many constraints apart from the site that can affect a design; time, funds, and expectations.I also got to work closely with the realities of architecture, which I was surrounded by within the firm. My workmates were guiding me throughout the year and helped to improve my construction knowledge, my understanding of Australian Standards, the Planning processes, the BRC processes, cost vs effectiveness of design, and so much more. It has been extremely valuable knowledge that I continue to use to interrogate design and architecture. Show less

Although Iwas casual, I worked full-time for my duration at StudioNine, and it allowed me to gain immense experience with the Revit software. The ‘Revit Gurus’ of StudioNine also taught me to be able to help with Interior Architectural as well as Architectural documentation.I gained experience in creating my own Revit families, such as customised joinery, profiles for curtain panels, mullions, gutters, fascia, and more. I could edit and update families to perform what I needed in specific projects. I was also one of StudioNines’ Enscape Renders, applying 3D materiality, and playful/appropriate entourage for a lively final image. I also became experienced in multi-residential projects and managing links between designs and subcontractors. I have a greater understanding of the sequencing of the information, modelling, and links to create greater flexibility and get to the final goals of projects.I became dependable and would often be asked by coworkers for help with Revit Issues. I was not quite good enough to be a Revit Guru myself, although that is a goal of mine.I gained a wealth of knowledge by attending client and subcontractor meetings and working in almost all design phases. I also did a few solo site visits to create existing drawings for projects. My current skills lay in Contract Documentation, and I am confident in my abilities to get drawings to 85% documentation. I would often seek advice for the following 15% due to my experience, which my S9 coworkers would happily guide me Show less

We also have the largest variety of products for Drive Throughs. We have a small team of 3-4 that have been working here for three or more years. My part in this team is maintaining our high standard we've competitively set for ourselves.*Currently I manage the social media profile of Bridgeport Hotel, for the Bottle Shop, given to me due to my Architectural/Design knowledge and education. I've been trialling posts/ads for the store that have seen results, some better than others as I've learned. We are weekly getting 100-200+ more engagements with our posts from the provided stats of the platform. These numbers translate to our sales within the store, not 1-1 but better. As information is then transferred verbally by those that interact. The results are surprising to me given that the store is in Murray Bridge and not a city. I have been rewarded by my manager Jess Bouts and the media manager of Eureka Hotel for my social media management.*I also have an Architectural background and can analyse patterns of stocks and Spatially Design the store to make processes easy for the customers as well as us staff. There have been a few times where I have completely rearranged our storage fridge of drinks to help my coworkers and myself to reduce the processing time of refilling and more importantly selling of products by more than half. Which means more sales for less energy.I have the ability to serve 190+ customers in a 6 hour shift without the customer leaving their car. So I'm taking their order, collecting and delievering their purchases, and taking their payment. Purchases can be multiple cartons of drinks which are heavy.I can also do this while maintaining the store for my coworkers and their shift. Show less

The firm has a small team of three, two being the Directors Kirsty Hewitt and Adam Brown. It has been to my benefit to create and work while also absorbing discussions that are very important with the Architectural Profession. I've truly learned more about my profession from my internship here than my years of studying Architecture.*I have taken part in creating concept designs for clients. My first client meeting with my first proposal, developed and furthered by Kirsty Hewitt was incredible. To be able to finally create and fashion for a client, who also loved the proposal was amazing. This project can be seen on my online portfolio.*I have also been helping with a client for a riverside project in Punyelroo. Kirsty, Adam and I went to meet on site, have a discussion of their future holiday home by the river, and did a basic site survey to begin the process. We had to juggle the brief, the Mid-Murray Council DP and this secular community guidelines that over-rules the Council's (but also works within it). It is being a very educational project.*I was also given a task of creating a 'possible costings schedule' for future clients. That outlines materiality choices and prices, and alternatives. This tasked involved calling and recording discussions between many businesses to create a spreadsheet of information. Helpful to me because it's not often that price is a factor while designing in University, and to seek out other possibilities for the client is also important.*I've also been allowed to create Posters for KHAB. These have been a practice of design, and also trying to carry out an existing visual language of a firm without doing something crazy on my part, which is always the case I have found. So I design many iterations (as my method) that were knit picked away by the firm. Until finally presented at AIA 2019, and soon Dulux Colour Awards 2019 Show less

Construction Labourer

Ivan Shmocker Constructions

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

I was part of a group of three builders working under Ivan Shmocker who had various construction projects. I obtained an understanding of a Tradies Life and that it is very difficult and timely when done correctly. I lacquered timber decking for days straight, I held heavy materials in place for hours, I dug a trench full of strong aged tree roots to lay concrete and I razor cleaned an installed glass partition as well as the floor tiles when the project was on its last days of completion… Show more I was part of a group of three builders working under Ivan Shmocker who had various construction projects.
