Key responsibilities:- Launching and long-term setup QR in the United States- Preparation, setup, and delivery of new projects for the company. - Negotiation with client management to outline the scope, length, and billing for projects.- Project management during the course of the project. Directly responsible for all areas of project delivery for first 3-6 months of project including pastoral care, training, day to day client interaction, target setting, project deliverables and project direction.- Stakeholder engagement and management via governance meetings, project reviews, KPI communication, and regular interaction.- New business and resource planning. Identifying personnel requirements for new business and ensuring team can deliver to high quality standard.- Business Manager for Design Phase Product Lifecycle Management including training, identifying new sales and business areas, recruitment and resourcing, onboarding, project delivery, development and pastoral care, knowledge capture and company wide SME.- Product Owner: developing QR's services and offering to the industry, for me this is our BTRS tool QRonos, a Django based web application to create a "plan for every part" on a vehicle and manage the timing of automotive builds.Project highlights:- Scaling up a UK Ventilator manufacturer in response to COVID-19, tasked with producing 15,000 Ventilators at a rate that equates to 10 years' worth of normal production units within 10 weeks.- Cost attack on prototype multipliers savings in excess of $20m- Prototype vehicle ship-to-customer delays reduced from >3 weeks late to on schedulePersonal highlights:- Pitched, planned, managed, and delivered a major consultancy project over four global regions on prototype processes. - Launching and long-term setup QR in the United States- On-boarding and supervision of new recruits during their probationary periods.- Interviewing applicants, as well as assisting with the design of recruitment testing.

Preparation for launch, initial setup, and long term running of a new Innovation Lab for ALTEN UK, offering digital transformation projects for our clients and ourselves on a mix of R&D and applied work ventures. From two people with an idea to a team of 15 in our first two years and 16 projects under our belt in AI + ML, Data Science, Digital Twins, and Automation + RPA.Project highlights:- Creating object detection models from purely synthetic data: avoid taking/annotating real images by hand for these models, but instead feed in the CAD for an entire BoM and it will render images with a variety of obfuscations/obstructions, all already labelled, and train the object detection models for you. Applied to a part identifier for warehouse operations. - Applying computer vision to a Kanban setup: automatic stock taking in a manufacturing line using only object detection and processing in images. - RPA projects were always particularly fruitful, regularly able to reduce the time/effort for tasks by several orders of magnitude. We helped one team creating fault trees that typically spent 4–5 months on the tree for one turbine subassembly get it down to a 45 minute automated task with two human input points.Personal highlights:- Human-AI Collaborative Reinforcement Learning: investigating the effectiveness of joint human and AI problem solving and demonstration of ML techniques. Giving human and agents each different components of control over a task that requires both to act together to solve a problem.- Recruiting the initial cohort of data scientists, and the second scaled cohort including the management/leadership team for its long term success.- Getting my hands dirty on data science projects again and being in the coding weeds!

In the latest clinical studies on the treatment of coronavirus patients, additional breathing modes and more advanced ventilation methods were found to aid recovery. We delivered the program to add this functionality to the entirety of the Penlon ventilator stock, which involved:- Designing, setting up, running, and decommissioning a facility for the production line- Establishing the machine test procedure, and ensuring the Quality processes were in place to sign off each ventilator with complete confidence- Onboarding and training all roles within the facility for a 200 strong workforce, and managing the shift teams throughout- Coordinating the supply chain which prevented production from ever stopping- Managing the logistics in side of, and between, multiple warehouses and logistics companies- Technical problem solving for the engineering issues involved and any non-conformance that emergedThe program was ultimately delivered ahead of schedule and under budget.

ln response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government tasked Penlon, a UK Ventilator manufacturer, with producing 15,000 ventilators at a rate that equates to 10 years’ worth of normal production units within 10 weeks. This has required Penlon to scale up all aspects of operations; from design, engineering, supply chain, manufacture and assembly through to the testing of finished products prior to delivery to hospitals for use on critical patients. I worked on the latter of these, leading the understanding, definition and training around testing within Penlon. I become the subject matter expert on all ventilator testing requirements, leading a team of 400+ people working 24 hours a day across 3 shifts to test hundreds of units every day before certifying them for quality and being dispatched to the NHS. This work included:- Using existing products, and technical studies as we went, to create the final machine test procedure and rectification/rework procedures- Building all training material on ventilators testing, from step by step “at the bench guides”, to video training materials for remote learning- Training the trainers, and then jointly trainees, with that material before supporting that team of 400+ people over two sites, 24h a day, in their testing capacity.- Coordinating with production teams on converting a manufacturing site to the required testing setup, in a COVID Secure manner- Leading the triage, disposition and rework areas with the engineering teams, for the rectification of non-conforming units.- Defining a Post Market Surveillance (PMS) system to capture, categorise and report on any incidents observed & recorded on any of the ventilators produced during the crisis

Delivering a turnkey solution for Bill of Materials management on a new European vehicle program (2016 Fiesta) with a particular focus on prototype builds.• Successfully delivered a new project above and beyond client expectations.• Developing existing and New PLM processes to ensure success in a changing product development environment.• Ensure engagement of all key stakeholders in Bill of Materials decisions and initiatives,• Ensure delivery and availability of Bill of Materials to all required stakeholders.• All efforts resulted in increasing the time to engineer by 12% within the program team
