I have now worked as a front line firefighter for 15 years and have a wealth of experience in various operational incidents and training exercises. I work well alone and as a member of a team. I interact well with team mates, management and members of the public to succeed in our goals. As one of the more experienced members on the watch I openly offer guidance and assistance to the younger members of the team and may sometimes act in a mentor role. I enjoy and relish these occasions andam starting to take the lead in more of the work load and will continue to do so.I maintain a strong professional approach to work which was ingrained during my military career.I recently won an award from the Royal Humane Society for going above and beyond my job role in order to help save a life. I currently hold my class C and C1 licence. I was an EFAD driver so can drive to a high standard under pressure keeping the crew and members of the public safe.I am a trusted member of the team who regularly achieves set tasks with no supervision.

Worked for a start up gardening company maintaining and landscaping private gardens. They then set up a heat pump company where I helped out with the labouring. We travelled throughout the UK fitting the pumps. It was hard manual work out in all weather. I never let the company down and they were reluctant to let me go. I did this whilst applying for the Fireservice.

I passed out after an Intense 30 weeks of training as an original starter in my troop. Seventeen of us finished out of the original sixty four who joined with me. I then joined 45 commando as a general duties marine before taking a store's adqual course then specialising as an Assault Engineer. After the intense engineering course where I earned my military chainsaw licence, received basic building skills and learnt how to work with, calculate and use explosives I joined 40 commando. I left the Royal marines a tad over 4 years and 8 months.I took part in exercises in the desert, on the sea and spent three months in Norway on am intense training programme in Arctic conditions . I did three tours of duty overseas. Was involved in the invasion of Iraq, was the first British boots on the ground in Afghanistan for Op Jacana and then finished on a peace keeping tour in Iraq. I also spent two months on HMS Ocean as Britain's first response troops tasked with being ready to be sent anywhere in the world with only a few hours notice.Being in the military gave me self confidence, discipline and a healthy work ethic. It requires you to perform highly as an individual and within a team. You have to work in challenging environments under great pressure regardless of conditions or time of day.
