As my first co-op rotation with Crowder, this semester introduced me to the world of project management in a construction setting. Since my start date, I have become familiar with the online project management website Procore, and have begun writing submittals for an upcoming project. I am onsite at the Byrd Park Reservoir Rehabilitation project in Richmond, VA, and have been handling the requisition of jobsite materials to maintain productivity in the field. I also participate in the project's Safety Committee to ensure that we leave the jobsite unharmed.

I worked as an outside service attendant in the golf department at Forsyth Country Club for just over 2 years. I exercised leadership skills by training new employees and ensuring that our operations ran smoothly. I was considerably younger than most of my coworkers, but I had much more experience than many of them so they learned to listen to my leadership and take my advice, as well as to look to me for guidance. I find this type of leadership very fulfilling and I was always proud to be the manager when our team did a great job and we received praise from the club members or upper management. I also got to work on my interpersonal skills by interacting with our customers, and I feel that I have created the foundation for my future career by developing workplace skills for myself.

During the summer of 2020, I worked full-time at Sticker Man, operating t-shirt printing machinery and overseeing embroidery machines. I also cleaned and serviced various mechanical components for these machines, so I have a strong understanding of how to care for and maintain various tools and implements. Unfortunately, this was a seasonal position that I had to leave at the end of the summer in order to focus on school.
