MOHARA is a company that partners with the pioneers by their building tech products and investing in their businesses. We have the goal of advancing society through technology.I was one of the founding members of the Cape Town office, and got valuable experience in growth with a software development team. This presented many challenges and hardships, but gave me great perspective on the building of teams, the evolution of processes and the difference between working at/with start ups versus larger traditional companies.In this role, I was an Intermediate Full Stack Engineer that is responsible for building, maintaining and testing software applications, as well as counselling juniors, acting out as Technical lead on certain projects and system architecture. I work on Front and Backend development depending on the needs of each project, with a strong focus on DevOps and team management (from a tech perspective).I was responsible for working closely with groups of individuals to create products for various startups and business ventures. This means that we get the opportunity to work on different types of tech stacks, across a variety of industries, that typically take 3 months to a year to complete.This role has really been great for providing me with the necessary skills required to get to the path of Snr Full stack development, as well as amazing experience in building out software products. It has allowed me to work with a wide variety of skills and technologies in order to become a well rounded, agnostic member on a team.It has also provided me with leadership experience when working with people, which is something I did not get as much when freelancing.I am really grateful for this experience and want to use these skills to become a specialist and contribute a bit more to the world of technology.

My main goal for this role is to leverage my learnings in DevOps and Security, as well as Development best practises and convert that into valuable information that can be shared, adapted and used within KallosTech and then shared via blogs, video content and one-to-one technical sessions. I also provide advice to the company and periodically provide technical research to developers to assist in System Architecture and Product Development. I also assist in building teams, and counselling new developers and advising on the development of internal tooling and processes.

I worked on different types of projects with technologies such as Meteorjs, Reactjs, Shopify, WordPress, Drupal, and a lot of system/server administration.I enjoyed working and learning with those technologies, and this type of work has exposed me to new and interesting topics in the IT and software development fields, compared to the mainframe environment where I was initially trained.I used this opportunity to learn more about front-end development as I came from a backend development background. This provided me with a clearer understanding of what it means to be a Full Stack Engineer.I have used these skills to succesfully transition into a modern web stack and used these skills in my career to get other roles and provide advice to aspiring developers. This decision to become independent has taught me a lot in terms of business and how to handle failures.I will use this knowledge to make informed decisions and provide efficient solutions and ideas in the work environment.

I was part of the Debit Card Team at FNB. My main day-to-day tasks were to enhance/maintain the BOB system (such as call-out, and incident management), and work on projects in order to provide value to the business and our customers.BOB is the system responsible for the life cycle of cards. From creating the embossing data for the plastic, doing card maintenance, and validating the PIN, to the cancellation of the card. (The system is a variation of batch and online COBOL programs).

I was selected to join the ITBLP (Information Technology and Business) programme to study for my diploma and intern for the Bank (FNB) to better understand how it works. The focus of the study was primarily on COBOL/Mainframe development.After this I joined the CTA (Core Technology Academy) where I wrote the ITUC Examinations for COBOL, and went through the academy to get certified to develop and use Hogan Systems.
