Profile bio

About Samuel Bose Ph.D

I am the In-house Editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology, the most cited journal in its field with more than 180,000 citations across 12,000 articles by 66,000 authors. Frontiers in Pharmacology is a leading journal in its field, publishing rigorously peer-reviewed research across disciplines, including basic and clinical pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacy and toxicology. Before joining Frontiers I worked as postdoctoral scientist at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Oxford. My research, funded by the British Heart Foundation, investigated the role of downstream pathways in response to IP3 signalling in atrial cardiomyocytes utilising a combination of electrophysiology and high resolution imaging techniques.Previously, my PhD research, completed at the University of Bristol in collaboration with the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, investigated the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR), a member of the ATP-Binding Cassette Transporter family that functions as an anion selective channel. My PhD research characterised the function of CFTR orthologues from diverse species using single-channel patch clamp and utilised differences in the pharmacology of CFTR orthologues to study the mechanism of action of small-molecule modulators of CFTR that are used to treat Cystic Fibrosis.

Listed skills include Research, Teaching, English, Management, and 4 others.
