I have a combined ten years working and education experience. My technical training started when I joined the US Navy as an electronics technician (ET). While learning to be an ET I received two years of classroom and lab instruction. As part of my Naval training I learned basic circuits, electronic theory, and signal analysis. In addition to learning the basics, I was taught how to use various electrical test equipment to test and troubleshoot different electrical systems. After I finished my schools for the Navy, I was stationed on DDG 70 USS Hopper a destroyer out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. On board the Hopper I continued to learn and sharpen my rapidly growing skillset. Over the course of my three years on board, I had the opportunity to perform maintenance on everything from leaky valves to multimillion dollar communication systems to high power radar systems. However, a large part of my job on board was repairing equipment failures. Sometimes they were quick fixes, but often they would required hours of troubleshooting before diagnosing and repairing. Which was easily my favorite part of being an ET because it involved analyzing data, critical thinking, and testing which allowed me to rapidly learn about the equipment and become highly efficient at troubleshooting. But after my son was born, the underways became harder and I decided to get out. I got a job at L-3 as a engineering technician repairing towed sonar arrays for the Navy. The skills I developed while serving transferred over seamlessly. While at L-3 I continued troubleshooting, performing electrical repairs, and testing equipment. However, I also gained new skills, like repairing fiber optic cables. After a year at L-3 working alongside engineers, I decided it was time for my to get myself an engineering degree. So, I enrolled at Northeastern University, where I was awarded a bachelors of science in electrical engineering in the fall of 2021.
