About Samuel Beltran
Hello, my name is Sam.Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Ancient Judaism History. (June 2020)Peruvian native, living in Orange County since the 2006 World Cup- passionate and skillful in designing in engineering and finding innovative solutions to all kinds of problems.Throughout my college career, I found and developed a passion for research and manufacturing. I joined the Solar Airplane Team in college, in which I eventually became the Lead Engineer. I developed a strong understanding of the airplane’s mechanical designs by using AutoCAD Fusion 360, SolidWorks to model the components of the aircraft’s wings (airfoils, control surface, leading edge, and rib structure), and ANSYS to perform CFD analysis on the propellers. I also maintained high standards for the received materials and organized a strong culture within my group that emphasized quality in the assembly process of the wings. I further developed my airplane design knowledge in the project-based Aircraft Design course, which ended up becoming my favorite and most beneficial course. I designed around constraints (passenger capacity, range, cargo weight and cruise velocity) by writing a MATLAB code to determine the most efficient design parameters (taper ratio, sweep angle, aspect ratio, and construction material) based on the flight’s direct operational cost. I modeled in SolidWorks with full interior design for a 1970 JT8D-9 engine and a 2020 JT9D-7 engine, while adhering to the FAA safety regulations. In the future, I see myself working as a design engineer with an enthusiastic team ready to take on any challenge. I am not afraid of adapting, so I welcome any opportunity to grow both my character and career. For the past couple of years, I’ve been attending an MMA gym on my free time and I hope to one day participate in a tournament. SolidWorks, Fusion360, AutoCAD, ANSYS, LabView, OpenRefine | Python, Matlab, Bash | 3D printing, Soldering, Manufacturing | Leadership
