The role is to develop and implement long-term strategies for the organization’s goals and to build strong relationships with shareholders and stakeholders through regular communication and updates. The major focus includes overseeing the conservation and rehabilitation of wildlife and vegetation, improving security and to attract further investment and tourism into the region.

Responsibilities encompass the full scope of project management of selected Park projects andprogrammes, including but not limited to: (i) the completion of a rangeland management project whichresulted in the augmentation of water sources for five rural communities, funded by the Prince AlbertFoundation.; (ii) Two separate programmes focussed on livelihood-improvements within and outside theparks buffer zone that are funded through the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) respectively; (iii) Other projects include the improvement of management of park resources through improved radio coverage and IT capabilities for the use of visualisation software namely Earth Ranger to monitor park assets, such as digital radios, wildlife collars, human-wildlife conflict, and vehicles. This specific project is funded through the Global Environment Fund. My role also plays a supportive role to the Head of Operations and Development and the Park Project Implementation Unit.

Responsibilities included all game management, budgeting for the department, aerial census counting, permitting (including CITES), liaising with external conservation departments (Provincial and National), bush clearing, habitat manipulation, invasive species control, problem animal control, managing government funded programmes including the Expanded Public Works Programme (working for environment, working for water, working on fire and working for wetlands), assisting anti-poaching, human resources, internal & external staff management, marketing materials, and all other relevant aspects to the management of the Reserve as and when required.

Appointed on a temporary basis: responsibilities included meeting regularly with line managers of different departments (conservation, operations: roads and water, workshop, compliance, and media & marketing) and ensuring the smooth running of the Reserve on behalf of the landowners and various stakeholders.

Duties involved assisting with the responsibilities of the Conservation Manager while completing experiential learning. I participated and completed vegetation surveys, game capture, mapping of reserve infrastructure and fire management.

Duties included collecting building material, dropping staff at various sites and organising building material. There were multiple building sites during my employment.
