in October 2019 I decided to leave my job at Princess Yachts to concentrate full time on growing my business Southwest GRP Services LTD and taking on contract work in the Marine Industry. We are a new but ever growing company and our reputation grows with every project we complete. Clients have included Princess, Sunseeker and Fairline Yachts in the U.K and we have an exciting project to begin in the new year in the British Virgin Islands in the Carribean.

Due to the Covid-19 epidemic my contract in the British Virgins Islands was cut short due to international lockdowns and travel restrictions and based on government advice I flew back to the U.K to be locked down at home with my family. From March 2020 until June 2020 because of the UK national lockdown we did not operate and remained closed for business during this period. I sought a temporary permanent position of work and was very fortunate to be given this opportunity with Aquamare. I worked for them as a Surface Repair Technician from June 2020 until October 2020 when I felt it was the right time to resign and return to running my business Southwest GRP Services LTD. I am very grateful to Aquamare for this employment and really enjoyed my short time there.

Multi skilled Finisher , repairing storm damaged charter yachts caused by Hurricane Irma. Mono Hull sail yachts and Catamarans. Unfortunately this project came to an early conclusion in April 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak and we flew home following government advice and guidlines to be home with our families during lockdown. Getting the last flight back to the U.K before we were all stranded!!

Varied GRP Repairs to 45 Targa and F35 line.

Deciding to go for a complete change in career I started my career at Princess Yachts International , a world leader in motor yacht manufacturing , as a GRP Repairer. I had a wealth of transferable skills from my construction background and good eye for detail and soon began building a reputation for myself as an excellent GRP Finisher. Princess Yachts soon demonstrated their belief in my ability by sending me to Europe and also the U.S.A to complete warranty work for them. I have also been sent on warranty work around the U.K and was part of the team to set up the Princess Yachts stand at the Southampton and London boat shows. Employed as a GRP Repairer my general day to day role was to undertake all types of gel coat repair including major mould work , Split repairs , forming and shaping angles and radius' , complete full respraying of Hulls and decks from preperation to final finishing and polishing , snagging and finishing during the audit process and warranty work around Europe and Internationally.

Following the completion of my apprenticeship in 2006 I worked for a company called G.K.W worden for around 12months whilst I grew in confidence and learned the trade in more depth. I then decided to set up as a self employed sub - contractor Bricklayer. Mainly on new build developments and housing projects. I worked all over the south west for large building contractors such as Taylor Wimpy , Persimmon homes southwest , Midas homes , Linden homes , Redrow and various others.
