I am a 2012 graduate from Michigan Technological University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Management. After attending college in my hometown of Houghton, Michigan, I am seeking an opportunity to broaden both my personal and professional life in a new area of the country with new experiences and opportunities. My goal is to find a company that has the same vision of achievement through high standards, solidarity, accountability and constant self-improvement. My coworkers and colleagues would tell you that I am a driven leader with the ability to work well in a team environment, capable of both listening openly and contributing ideas to the task at hand. This was exemplified through my participation in the Project Management Institute’s THE Project competition (Western Michigan Chapter). In this competition, my team was challenged to turn an existing or fabricated company into a benefit corporation. Using creative thinking, I formulated the idea of a textiles company using local artists’ works as artwork on t-shirts and donating 10% back to that artist community. My team used this concept to create an entire business plan based around the idea and was able to earn a second place finishing in the competition. I gained experience in healthy conflict resolution and how to overcome challenging situations. I learned that a project manager must demonstrate strong leadership skills in working with all areas of the organization such as the finance team, engineering department, and human resources while maintaining fairness and respect amongst team members.Studying abroad in Italy during my sophomore year of college, and recently moving across country to central Texas, exemplifies my passion for seeking new and unique experiences.
