With over five years of dedicated service in the social work and mental health field, my journey has been driven by a passion for empowering individuals and communities. At The Posse Foundation, my role is to support Veterans in achieving their transition and academic aspirations, aligning with the organization's mission of promoting college access and support for nontraditional students. This position allows me to bring a wealth of experience from various environments, offering diverse perspectives that resonate with our culture of nurturing potential and fostering resilience.As a Veteran Support Specialist, I engage in supportive counseling, case management, and the provision of vital referrals. My efforts are focused on ensuring that Veterans navigate the complexities of academic environments and transition smoothly to full time students in highly competitive academic environments. The skills honed during my time as a Mental Health Therapist – including crisis intervention and therapeutic communication – are now instrumental in addressing the unique challenges faced by our Veterans, a testament to the impact of specialized support for those who have served our nation.
