I thoroughly enjoy learning about how things work at the deepest levels possible. I am not satisfied by simply 'getting something to work', I am bugged if I don't understand how and why it works at several layers underneath my required understanding. Additionally, my engineering skills are strong and varied throughout Electrical and Computer Engineering. I have done everything from circuit design, including specifying components, circuit simulation, schematic capture and PCB layout for designs with over 200 components, to writing thousands of lines of VHDL code for FPGAs in time-critical applications, to personally writing and maintaining a large piece of embedded software that leverages an RTOS.I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. My Master's Thesis focused on computer vision within FPGAs. Specifically, it focused on the implementation and optimization of an efficient feature descriptor that was designed for digital hardware. The thesis did more than simply 'simulate and compare' this feature descriptor, it spanned the entire scope from talking with a low-level camera sensor, running image processing algorithms with the feature descriptor, and then outputting the results over HDMI.The reason I mention these experiences is that I would describe myself as an 'end-to-end' engineer. I can take an idea and transform it into a design, then to a simulation, and then to reality. Hardware or software. Due to this, I have consistently been called an exceptionally high-performer from my engineering managers and supervisors as well as during my graduate studies. I have a passion for technology and understanding that began as a young child and continues today. It is this drive coupled with relentless effort and tedious double checking that I have been able to achieve success.
