My research involves studying the nonlinear dynamics in micro cantilever arrays for application to Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM, a high resolution imaging technique). Using a combination of nonlinear mathematical analysis and experimental investigation, I have been able to determine the underlying causes of sudden changes in motion observed when operating the cantilever arrays, which has been a major issue preventing the application of the technology.
