I have always had a curiosity about the inner workings of the world, starting with a passion for space in primary school, the wonders of the extra-terrestrial world in secondary school, and furthermore into how life can survive in extreme environments. In my undergraduate studies, I focused on biochemistry to answer questions that other disciplines were unable to do. My interest in biochemistry continued into postgraduate studies, where I passionately worked on BACE1 as a target for intervening in the development of late-onset Alzheimer’s disease.As my interests evolved, I tailored my PhD project to include aspects of neurobiology and analytical chemistry, both of which are now passions that I try to weave into current projects. Currently, I am working on projects relating to inhibition of BACE1 in neuroblastomas, development of sustainable cerebral organoids, recombinant egg hypo-allergens in children, and peanut allergens in neuroinflammation.
