About Samuel Lowe
I am a motivated and passionate Motorsport Engineer from New Zealand, currently pursuing an MSc in Advanced Motorsport Engineering at Cranfield University, with aspirations of working in high-performance motorsport, applied technology and the America's Cup.Previously, I completed a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Mechatronics from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. I have worked with two of New Zealand’s leading motorsport companies, firstly gaining experience as an intern for Rodin Cars and then as a Research and Development Engineer for Dodson Motorsport. During this time, I have worked hard to refine my design and problem-solving skills, completing projects for several record-breaking performance cars in the US and UK. I have significant experience with CAD, FEA, PCB design, embedded systems, programming, and data analysis.Primarily, I have worked in design, research, and development, but I am actively expanding my motorsport experience. During my spare time I have been analysing track data and vehicle dynamics using PiToolbox, MoTec, WinTax, and Simulink. In New Zealand I have provided support for Rodin Cars’ Formula 3 test vehicle and worked as a trackside marshal during Liam Lawson's test drive of the Rodin FZED (Lotus T125).Beyond the technical challenges of Motorsport, I am deeply passionate about the energy transition of Motorsport, and solving problems related to environmental sustainability. I am inspired by the pivotal role that constructors and the FIA will play in steering the sport towards a carbon-zero future. It has always been clear that fierce competition sparks great innovation. I believe that engineers have a duty to add value to society through continuous improvement, and I am eager to contribute to this cause throughout my career. My interests outside of motorsport include mountain biking, hiking and endurance running which have cultivated an ethos of tenacity and discipline. Sailing, rugby and rowing have taught me the importance of working effectively within a team. Thriving in competitive sport has created a commitment to pushing boundaries, which is essential to working in a high-performance environment.
