Leading the architectural design of an open identity and communication framework using blockchain technology. One of the unique challenges is providing both security and privacy in an open storage user owned identity management system. The approach is use group, class, or attribute based identities.

I am leading the design of the computing infrastructure for OpenReputation.net. We are building an open framework for computational reputation that has the potential to beneficially modulate almost any form of internet interaction or transaction. We look at reputation as a predictor derived from aggregated measures of behavior. We are using blockchain technology. Thus big data meets the blockchain. This exciting work leverages the full gamut of my expertise from large scale distributed systems design, network automation protocols, computational intelligence, machine learning, uncertain and approximate reasoning, to cryptography and cooperative decision making in autonomic systems. The World Table is developing products and application that help enable the reputation economy. At The World Table I am leading the design of the technological framework for these applications. In addition to open source software, the technology framework includes tunable customizable products that will employ automated reasoning and machine learning technology.

As Director of Research and Development, I lead the design and development of the next generation core platform for SaltStack. This included designing and developing the open source RAET (Reliable Asynchronous Event Transport) protocol. This is a more scalable, performance, secure, reliable inter-host protocol. RAET uses transactioned UDP, elliptic curve cryptography, and the curve-cp handshake to form low latency, authenticated and encrypted peer to peer communications networks. RAET also uses UXD for inter-process communications. RAET is built on top of Ioflo, an open source flow based programming framework, I originated, that enables scalable complex applications development and execution. Ioflo is the result of over a decade's work in autonomous systems command and control software architecture.

I was an associated editor of the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems. In addition to research on all aspects of autonomous underwater vehicle systems, funded research projects included computational search and reinforcement learning, survivable shipboard automation, and automated reasoning.
