Profile bio

About Samuel T.

Highly motivated engineer with a passion for learning and real-world experience in fluid mechanics, experimental design, and automation. I have worked in applications ranging from pharmaceuticals to computing, as well as work in academia. Before entering college, I would have never thought I could be technically minded at all. Today, I could not imagine my life without the knowledge and skills I have acquired over 4 years. I have spent much time in the labs here at Villanova, and through research and classwork, I have gained experience in a broad range of topics, from heat transfer and fluid flow, to control systems and mechatronics, to biomedical engineering.I started work with research into self-cleaning surfaces. Over the course of this opportunity, I learned discipline, adaptability, and plenty of methods to achieve my goals, but I also learned more about myself and my own shortcomings in a group environment. I experienced a tremendous amount of personal growth as a result. During the pandemic, I had my first brush with CFD when I simulated condensation on patterned surfaces as part of the VURF fellowship. Through hard work and determination, I was able to work through the limitations of remote work as the manager of my own project. As an intern for Glaxo-Smith Kline, I expanded upon my CFD skills and learned how to share my knowledge and skills with others by presenting my findings over the summer to an audience and assisting a group of students with their capstone project.During my last year of college at Villanova, I took on a position as a research assistant in the James R. Birle lab, I I took charge of sensor calibration, data acquisition, and signal processing on projects for NVIDIA and NovaMed. I was able to hone my skills in collaborating with other engineers to produce results. After graduation, I was honored to be chosen as part of the 2022 class of EIT's for SIEMENS Process Automation. During my time here I have learned many new skills and worked on exciting projects as a Solutions Engineer. I am excited to see what the future holds! The saying goes "jack of all, master of none", but I see things a different way. I am always open to learning more and gaining experience in fields outside my own. Even though I am specialized in a few different areas, I am always looking to branch out into other fields and welcome the opportunity to do more than I am already capable of.
