Dr. Malone is a Managing Director at HPS Investment Partners. Prior to joining HPS, Dr. Malone was a Senior Director at Moody's Analytics, where he led quantitative research efforts for CreditEdge, a credit risk analytics platform, as well as the development of early warning frameworks encompassing public and private corporate credit. Prior to Moody's, Dr. Malone was a tenured Finance professor at the University of the Andes. Over his career, he has authored over 40 articles and a book, whose primary themes include forecasting, the intersection of macro and finance, and credit risk modeling across asset classes. Sam holds B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Duke University, where he graduated summa cum laude, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.His book, Macrofinancial Risk Analysis, was published in the Wiley Finance series with foreword by Nobel Laureate Robert Merton. He is a CFA Charterholder.
